Baseball & Flurries

Catching snowflakes the size of quarters! More snow!
Jayden at bat, looks as if it was a strike judging by the ump!

Jayden on the mound!

We have been very busy busy busy! This past weekend started out with two 7 on 7 football games. The Knights won one game and tied the other. After some rest Jayden played in a baseball tournament. He pitched his first six inning game of his life and got a win. He threw 102 pitches, I'm not sure what I think of throwing that many pitches but he had fun! They ended up getting third place, the team that beat them twice won the entire tourney. Today, Tuesday, we had flurries for the second time this winter. The first time was during the school day so I didn't get any pictures but today was after school. The flakes were HUGE, but the snow didn't stick to the ground. Casen loved catching them on his tongue but after twenty minutes of that he was freezing and came into warm up and change clothes cause he was soaked then went out again until it stopped, then came in and changed AGAIN!!!! What a fun day! Casen's baseball team, Astros, premiere this Saturday as the season begins.

The Bench

Knox bench during the tourney, before ankle injury of Darious.
Another pic, I think that its funny that there are more siblings on the bench than players!

Basketball & Baseball

Casen and his buddy sitting on the bench helping coach! Jayden with his science fair materials.

Casen (camo) shooting hoops with buddys during half time!

Jayden vs. Andres tip off, Andres is a former student, love both these boys! Jayden won!

Jayden #50 right before tip off! Jayden also won :)

Last weekend there was a basketball tourney and Knox fared as well as they could. They had only one sub until he sprained his ankle then down to ZERO subs. Kids had bouts with the flu, injuries, and grades. They managed to get 4th place, not bad for a team of 5 1/2 players. Casen and all of the other little brothers were sitting on the bench, there was a lot of room! They also enjoyed playing some pick up ball during half time! Jayden completed his science fair project; Bat Wars: Aluminum vs. Wood. He really enjoyed this project we are so thankful his teacher let him do a project that he really bought into. Casen's spring baseball team this year is going to be the Astros! The first practice is today and then off to the super busy lifestyle we go. Jayden's practice starts too as well as 7 on 7 football.

Winter in Texas

Fountain at Guadalahara! Fountain at the Portofino!
Tommy in front of the warm fire place!

Texas does have more than two seasons! This is the first time since we have lived here in 9 years that I feel like it is winter! It has been a week of cold temperatures, three days of REALLY cold temps. and wind chills. It has been in the teens three nights in a row and not come above freezing during those three days either. If I see a mosquito buzzing around tomorrow, I'll be really intrigued how they survived three days of freezing weather. This is a winter that I can get used to, three/four days of cold weather/wind and then back in the 60's. Basketball update...Knox lost to McC in a close game on Thursday, there were several lead exchanges but we fell short in the end. Mr. Jayden had an off night only having 3 points, and foul trouble right from the start. We will play them again hopefully with a different outcome.

Hello December!

2009 Christmas card picture!
Knox vs. Washington Jr. High, free throws!
Another free throw
Buddy loves the Christmas tree too!

Hello December! My favorite month, I love this holiday season, the music, cool weather, and all of the beautiful lights and decorations! Basketball season is in full swing the Knights are 2-1. Jayden is averaging about 10 points and rebounds/game. It has been a fun season, looking forward to more ball after Christmas. The Woodlands had a snowfall on December 4. It was beautiful but there was no accumulation on the ground to play in. It was during the school day and we took the kids out for recess and they caught huge snowflakes on their tongue, I'm sure it'll be the best recess/school memory for most of the kids. Patch therapy on Casen's eye is getting better. The first couple of times were horrible... nausea, dizziness, and headache. After the first time I gave Motrin an hour before the patch, now it is better and I don't have to give meds. don't know if the eye is strengthening or if he is used to it now. We go back to the Dr. at the end of the month for another check-up. One more week of school to go and we are on Christmas vacation, we can all hardly wait!
